”I had been renting the same apartment for 6 years when suddenly the apartment building was bought out by the local university. I was informed I had 3 months to find a new place to live.
One day shortly after, I went to pick up a package and ran into my building manager. I expressed to him that I was having some difficulty finding a new place.
He told me that the apartment building next store hadn’t been sold to the university and he knew one of the apartment owners who was looking to rent her unit out. He gave me her information and I called immediately to express my interest.
She invited me to come view the unit and I loved it, so I asked to fill out an application right on the spot.
As she reviewed my paperwork, she recapped my answers out loud, saying, “35 years old, single, no kids, and stable employment, huh?” I said, “Yes ma’am.” Her response was, “Well then you need to meet my son! He’s single too.”
I wasn’t interested in a relationship but i needed the apartment, so I agreed. A few days later she informed me that the apartment was mine and told me to come meet her there to get the keys.
When I arrived, she had brought her son with her and introduced us. Immediately after, she said, “Y’all should go out to dinner tonight.” We agreed and went out that night.
We were married 8 years later and I’ve been smiling ever since.”
